Founded on March 11, 1983, Energía Solar ESWindows began operations as an artisanal solar heater company. In 1988, the company expanded into the production, commercialization, and installation of aluminum and glass windows and façades for residential projects.
Strong customer demand and growing market recognition drove significant sales growth, leading the company to invest in advanced technology and key manufacturing equipment, including the city’s first automated glass-cutting machine.
As the business continued to expand and the need for higher-quality architectural systems increased, Tecnoglass was established on April 18, 1994, as a specialized glass transformation company focused on silk-screened, tempered, laminated, insulating, curved, and digitally printed glass solutions.
During the mid-1990s, the company initiated its first export operations to Panama and the United States. In 2002, Energía Solar ESWindows introduced hurricane-resistant windows and doors specifically designed to meet the stringent requirements of Miami-Dade County.
In 2007, Alutions by Tecnoglass, the company’s aluminum extrusion division, was launched, completing the vertically integrated production cycle through the in-house manufacturing of aluminum profiles, glass, and window systems. This integration enhanced operational efficiency, reduced production times, and strengthened the company’s competitive positioning.
In 2013, Tecnoglass Inc. became the first Colombian company to list on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol TGLS. Three years later, the company also began trading on the Colombian Stock Exchange (Bolsa de Valores de Colombia – BVC) under the ticker symbol TGLSC.
In 2016, the Tecnoglass Group inaugurated Colombia’s first Soft Coat production plant, enabling the company to manufacture Low-E architectural glass designed to improve thermal insulation and enhance building energy efficiency. That same year, the group acquired E.S. Windows LLC, further strengthening its presence in the United States market and reinforcing its vertically integrated business model.
In 2017, Energía Solar ESWindows expanded into the European market through the establishment of a subsidiary in Italy. Today, with more than 40 years of experience, ESWindows is recognized as a leading manufacturer of high-specification architectural glass and window systems for the residential and commercial construction industries worldwide.

The Tecnoglass ES Foundation was created on July 18th, 2005 due to Tecnoglass and Energia Solar ESWindows shareholders’ interest in collaborating with the management of social development projects and programs whose objective is to help improve the quality of life of employees, their families, and the most vulnerable members of their communities.This proposal intends to look after some of the fundamental needs of our employees and the community, especially children. Giving them access to education, proper housing and more opportunities.
